An alternative indie folk
innovator for the 2020s.
Socials bio
indie alt-folk songstress with a sad streak
Short-form bio
Indie alt-folk songwriter Sergeant Conley plays in the lanes of alternative acts like Cage the Elephant and Susto, while walking the footsteps of iconic folk heroines-of-yore Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. Through sing-along hooks, delicate melodies, and just enough garage-rock stomp, Sergeant Conley provides a captivating and emotive snapshot of life as a disillusioned nineteen-year-old navigating our post-modern world.
Long-form bio
With an alt-folk sound that sits between Cage the Elephant and late-70s Joni Mitchell, Sergeant Conley reinvigorates the art of singer/songwriter melancholy with themes of individualism, rebellion, self-assurance, and strength through introspection. Channeling influences as diverse as Tall Heights, Joan Jett, The Beatles, and Susto, Sergeant Conley has crafted a driving, emotive, and angst-speckled snapshot of life as a disillusioned nineteen-year-old navigating our post-modern world.
Sergeant Conley, then performing as Grace Conley, released her debut EP Indigo Sky in the summer of 2019. The release attracted attention in the local community, while the songstress worked tirelessly writing music — new music, raw music, addictively honest music — that begged a new start and a new name. Enter Sergeant Conley.
The now-nineteen-year-old singer/songwriter’s warm, haunting voice and penchant for illustrative songwriting has solidified Sergeant Conley as a serious contender in the Atlanta songwriter community. Her casual, quirky stage presence serves as a foil to the depth, sorrow, and existential uncertainty of her lyricism, captivating audiences and providing a desperately-needed relatable heroine to the indie-folk world. Sergeant Conley will release her first single, “Sinner”, in February of 2020. Between planned releases this spring and summer, Sergeant Conley will be performing frequently throughout the southeast and probably lamenting the irony of existence.
Reviews
“The young and talented [Sergeant] Conley just released a new single titled, “Wide Open Nowhere”. Grace has such a soft, smooth voice. Her effortless harmonies, and her evident passion for singing and creating passionate music is crystal clear. [Sergeant] Conley is what you would call a natural. […] This well written single will instantly form an emotional connection with you and force you to play it more than once. I was highly impressed with [Sergeant] Conley, and I am sure that she has a bright future ahead of her in the music industry.”

You aren’t a talented writer for your age. You are an incredibly talented writer PERIOD. There are a lot of really wonderful ideas in these songs and the talent level of the writing and performing is thru the roof.
